"The working class & the employing class have nothing in common. There can be no peace so long as hunger and want are found among millions of the working people and the few, who make up the employing class, have all the good things of life.

"Between these two classes a struggle must go on until the workers of the world organize as a class, take possession of the means of production, abolish the wage system, and live in harmony with the Earth."
– Preamble to the IWW Constitution

MAY DAY (Tues., May 1, 2007):
The International Workers' Holiday,

The REAL Labor Day

The history of organized labor is the history of May Day. A movement as a living celebration of our solidarity and our struggle for a better tomorrow, and a day celebrating one of our largest victories as organized labor.

May Day is the celebration of the victory of the working class for an eight-hour workday and a day of remembrance for our fallen comrades at Haymarket Square.

The bonds made after Haymarket were not easily broken and the working class heroes it inspired were true heroes of their day. Emma Goldman, Voltairine de Cleyre and others are a reminder that anarchists and unionists have a long history together.

This May 1 we will celebrate our day once again. This May 1 anarchists, a href=http://www.mayday2007.org/ target="_blank">immigrants and unionists will again stand together as brothers and sisters to celebrate the holiday of the working class.

We invite you to join us on Tuesday, MAY 1, 2007 in Gainesville for a statewide May Day celebration organized by our comrades in the May Day Gainesville Organizing Committee. Help us to commemorate our past and to chart our future.
